About Attorney Jean Christensen

Jean Christensen spent her childhood years on Maui, attending Lahaina public schools before her family relocated to Washington state. Always longing to return to Hawaii, she seized upon the opportunity of an eight-week reporting assignment with the Honolulu bureau of The Associated Press in 1995 after graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and working as a journalist in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Washington, D.C. That assignment led to permanent news reporting positions with The Honolulu Advertiser and The AP, where she wrote about Hawaii for national and international audiences.

Jean began her second career, in law, upon graduating from the University of Hawaii's William S. Richardson School of Law in 2005. At UH, she served as a bankruptcy law research assistant and earned CALI Excellence for the Future (AmJur) awards for the highest grades in Debtor/Creditor Law, Secured Transactions, Negotiable Instruments, Admiralty Law and Second Year Seminar. She was awarded the Gregory Conlan Memorial Prize for achievement in the study of bankruptcy law.

Prior to forming The Law Office of Jean Christensen LLLC in 2009, Jean was an associate attorney with a commercial litigation firm in Honolulu and clerked for two years for The Honorable Robert J. Faris, chief judge of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Hawaii. Jean has served as a director of the Hawaii Bankruptcy Bar Association and has been a frequent presenter on consumer bankruptcy topics at Continuing Legal Education seminars and conferences.

Jean is licensed to practice before the courts of the State of Hawaii, the United States District Court for the District of Hawaii, the Bankruptcy Appellate Panel of the 9th Circuit, and the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
